The Graduate Scholar's Day Conference (GSDC) will be held on Wednesday, April 9 2008, in the Student Union Auditorium at Arkansas State University from 1:30-7:00 PM. The GSD Conference provides a forum for graduate students to present their research and academic work. The mission of the GSDC is to promote research among the graduate student body at Arkansas State University and other institutions in the region. GSDC Provides the opportunity for graduate students to present or publish research and academic work they've done in their classes.

The Graduate Student Council (GSC) is the main sponsor of this conference. The conference is also sponsored by the Graduate School, and the Office of Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Research. The Department of Educational Leadership, Curriculum, and Special Education (ELCSE) and Environmental Sciences (EVS) are co-sponsors of the GSDC.

You are invited to attend the conference, even if you choose not to present a paper. Admission is free to the ASU community and public.

The use of e-mail and e-mail attachments is highly encouraged for all correspondence. Submit an abstract/proposal (not to exceed 1,500 words) or a full paper to nkasraie@astate.edu. Papers from all topics, majors, and disciplines are accepted.

The due date is March 16, 2008.

Style Guidelines for Accepted Papers:

Please note that only the highest quality papers from each discipline will be accepted for presentation/publication.

Within one week of receiving your proposal, we will e-mail to you a notification of acceptance or rejection.  If your manuscript is accepted, you will then receive a separate e-mail consisting of a letter of acceptance, Registration Form, and conference style guidelines.  We encourage you to submit a separate 30-word abstract to print in the program.  If we do not receive one, we will quote 30 words from your abstract or full paper.

If you wish to have your full paper included in the proceedings, the final manuscript must be prepared using Microsoft Word and fully prepared in the way you want it to look in the proceedings.  For example, tables must be placed where you want them to appear.  If you have complex tables, diagrams, or symbols in the paper, please send us a hard copy for reference purposes in case the tables do not transmit successfully.  The manuscript must be single-spaced, have 1-inch margins on all four sides, be in Times Roman font at 10 points (with the exception of the title, which must be at 26 points), and not exceed 15 pages in length. You have the option to present your paper without having your full paper included in the proceedings.

The manuscript should consist of the title of the paper, information about the author(s), (including email address, mailing address, department, etc), abstract, body of the paper, key words, and references.  Please do not use Microsoft Word features (columns or styles) in the formatting of your paper.  References and endnotes need to be consistent and in a generally-accepted format.

Presentation/Publication is free to all graduate students. You will have 10-12 minutes to present your paper at the conference.
